The new Evergreen Portable MP3-CD Player is your all-in-one portable music solution. This little player allows you to enjoy your favorite audio CDs and CD-Rs filled with MP3 files, whenever you want. Gone are the days when you have to load CDs into your player every 12 or 13 tracks. No longer are you required to pay hundreds of dollars to enjoy your favorite MP3 files on the move. The setup of this player was extremely easy. Basically you just have to remove the packing materials, pop the batteries in (that Evergreen was gracious enough to include) and plug in the headphones. Evergreen makes it extremely clear that you are only to use Nickel Cadmium or Nickel Metal-Hydride rechargeable batteries with your MP3/CD player because the use of alkaline batteries may result in damage to the batteries and the player. Because the batteries that come with the unit are rechargeable, the first use requires you to also plug in the AC adapter. Remember to adjust the volume controls before you put the headphones on in order to save your hearing. Simple enough, now let's see how the unit performs.

I like to listen to music while I exercise, so I decided to hop on my Nordic Track Ellipse and run for a bit with the player sitting in the slot on the front of the machine. I started out with a CD that I had burned, but converted the files so that any CD player could read it. The sound is pretty good, even though the earphones are tiny. It was nice and clear and surprisingly even had clear transitions between the highs and lows. The second CD I played was a store-bought CD and once again it sounded great. The third CD I popped in there was loaded up with all my favorite MP3s. This is my favorite kind because of the amount of music I can store on one disk. The player also has the ability to play from user created directories on MP3 CD-Rs. There was no difference in the quality of sound with any of the recordings I tried. I did however manage to get the CDs to skip a few times while I was on that runner. Sometimes I get running too fast and lift my feet up off the pads and then when the pad motions down again it kind of shakes the machine, this may have been too big of a jolt for any player not to skip on. When I had the player in my hand and was running down the street I did not experience one singe skip.

Play Modes Supported:

All Play - plays all tracks on the disc once and then stops.
Intro Play - plays the first 10 seconds of each track on the disc.
Single Play - plays the one track specified.
Random Play - plays all tracks on the disc in random order.
Program Play - plays all programmed tracks in the order programmed by the user.

The Evergreen MP3-CD Player is portable, fully powered, provides outstanding sound and both CD and MP3 compatibility. It is reasonably priced and comes from a reputable company. Couple this player with my RumbleFX Headphones and I can take my home music experience on the road or wherever else I choose.
