Interview at Comdex with Al Peng from AOpen

Luckee from PCShooter recently had the opportunity to sit down with Al Peng from the Hardware manufacturing company AOpen.

Luckee: Are you really trying to attack the US market of gamers, or more worldwide.

Al:  Actually I guess that AOpen’s focus is for mainstream resellers.  One of our fortes is that we can also come up with the strategies to tackle the gamers market out there.  AOpen’s DX34 Plus, has the over clocking motherboard with high stability and performance.  We are also trying to extend our horizons a little in market segmentation.  It also has the ability to have dual processors.

Luckee: There are tons of advertisements around Vegas for AOpen.

Al: Yes, we have really tried to have everyone included in it, we are doing a lot of work to show that AOpen is working hard to provide total solutions.  We believe we are the only tele-solution provider in all of America.  That is one reason we’ve launched such an extensive marketing campaign.

Luckee:  With all of that advertising it makes people curious to learn more about what AOpen is and its products.

Al: Actually there are people who come over to the booth because of the advertising they’ve seen.  I feel we have really done what we had hoped with the advertising.

Luckee: As far as resellers and gamers coming to Comdex, I would think this would make people want to buy your product.

Al: Yes, we have seen in the past few years our authorized centers going from 3,000 to six digits.  We have a feeling it is going to happen again.  We are putting out promotional programs that will benefit our resellers like our coop dollar that you can increase from 1% to 3% for premium resellers.  We are stressing that we are putting things together to help these resellers tackle the educational market.

Luckee: Where is the company located, is it in the US?

Al:  We are situated in San Jose and we can ship anywhere.  We have a very extensive warranty policy.  For instance, on our website we have a policy that we keep every motherboard for three years, just for parts.  We keep updating the bios even for the older boards so you can still enjoy the older boards with the current games.

Luckee: If something breaks, we can get it in for service fast?  Most gamers don’t like to wait and have their system down for too long.

Al:  We have a program called open care.  You can log into our website and do direct RMA cross shipping.  Normally the turnaround would be five working days.  With this, and UPS shipping, you can have the card in two or three working days and we have been doing this for the last two years.

Luckee: Say my card breaks, I call AOpen and give them my credit card number and they’ll ship the card out at the same time I’m sending the broken one back.

Al: Yes and with RMA numbers you can actually track the shipping to see where it is and when it will arrive.

        Luckee: Thanks for your time.

The staff at PCShooter would like to give a special thanks to Scott Humphrey for making this interview possible and to Al Peng for spending the time to sit down and talk about AOpen. Looking at the list of products I think gamers everywhere will be happy with what AOpen has to offer. As we are able to sit down and test the products hands on we will tell you all about it at PCShooter.
