Myskin, animator and modeler from the Global Warfare Team, recently sat down with
us to discuss the ins and outs of the Global
Warfare Half-Life Mod.
(PCShooter)
To
start this interview, please tell us your
name and position on the Global Warfare
team.
(Myshkin), animator
and modeler.
 
(PCShooter) There aren't many
guns to choose from in the game, do you plan
to add more in the future? If so what are
you looking to add?
(Myshkin)
Well there will be a few more guns in beta
1.1, but I don’t want to give too much
away, you’ll have to wait :)
(PCShooter) Do you plan on
changing any of the weapon and/or player
models? If so, what kind of changes will be
made?
(Myshkin)
The sa80 and g36 weapon models have
been re-skinned, and I think the player
models have been tweaked a little too.
(PCShooter) Are there any
other changes/feature additions planned?
(Myshkin)
Well paragliding is on its way, but I
couldn’t give u any details on other
additions yet.
 
(PCShooter) Will the
weapons’ powers be increased in future
releases?
(Myshkin)
That’s something we’re toying
with, at present the mod is only beta1 so
we’re still trying out different settings
and listening to player feedback.
(PCShooter) Is it your goal for Global Warfare to go retail?
(Myshkin)
I can’t say it's something we’ve
ever discussed at GW, but personally I like
the way mods are free to download.
 
(PCShooter) The weapon recoil
is very evident making it hard to shoot
straight to get a kill, do you have any
plans to adjust this.
(Myshkin)
Well, the recoil isn’t my baby, but
we’ve had a lot of requests for it to be
tweaked so it should be addressed in some
way come beta1.1.
(PCShooter) Will the
transport time in the choppers and tanks be
reduced in the upcoming releases?
(Myshkin)
Probably not, right now the transport
time is a reason to stay alive, although
there are plans to hold transport each time
someone boards.
(PCShooter) What tools do you
use for map creation?
(Myshkin) I’m
not the mapper, hehe, but Psych uses
WorldCraft 3 and Wally for his wads.
(PCShooter) What is the
average time to create and code a map?
(Myshkin)
Hmm, well I’d say psych gets each
map done in maybe 2-3 weeks, but there’s
always some tweaking that takes place after
testing.
(PCShooter) And last but not
least, how many releases/betas can we expect
from the Global Warfare Mod?
(Myshkin)
Nobody knows exactly, as many as it
takes to get the game how we want it :)
