Desert
Seige
Welcome to East
Africa, the year is 2009. A sixty-year conflict boils over as
Ethiopia invades its smaller neighbor Eritrea, threatening the
world’s most vital shipping lanes in the Red Sea. An elite team
of US Army Green Berets, known as the Ghosts, moves in to
safeguard the seas and free Eritrea. As the war rages on, the
Ghosts are drawn from Eritrea’s shores to the heart of Ethiopia
and into their deadliest battles yet.
Operation
Flashpoint
The game takes
place on the island of Everon, the year is 1985. The United
States and the Soviet Union are still embroiled in the cold war.
You start out as Private Armstrong, your platoon is getting
ready to be shipped off the island in a day or so. The first
campaign mission is more or less a training session. The session
is worked into the story well, and lets you get the hang of the
controls before dumping you into combat. Shortly after the
training mission you learn that the island has been invaded by a
group of Soviet renegades. You are told there is help on the
way, but you and the other soldiers on the island are going to
have to try and dislodge the Soviets.
Max
Payne
The long awaited
Max Payne has finally been released. Remedy Entertainment has
been working on this glorious project for four years and from
the looks of it, it was time well spent. Seems the main focus of
the game is to dish out lots of pain. It appears the team spent
a lot of effort in the graphical area and it has paid off. It is
obvious as we sit and play this game where most of the game's
influence came from, movies. Movies like The Matrix, Face-off
and Die Hard to name a few. After four long years, Remedy has
put together one of the most anticipated 3rd person shooter
action game to date, and have mixed in it's extraordinary new
powerful 3D engine ta-boot. Let's just see if this game lives up
to the hype received around the gaming industry from its movie
trailers to screenshots.
Serious
Sam
What can I say
about Serious Sam other than it’s a good thing for open minds
and second-chances. I didn’t have the advantage of playing
the demo, so my first taste of the game was when I played death
match with my friends. And to put it bluntly, I didn’t
like it much. Honestly, I didn’t even consider playing it
again for several days. Then I was home one night after
work and decided to give the single player mode a try and that’s
when it happened, I got sucked in. I don’t know exactly when or
how it happened, but minutes . . . hours had passed and suddenly
everything was dark around me because evening had set in without
my noticing. “I was only going to play for a minute, ” I
thought and I found myself saying, “but if I could just kill
this guy it will be a good place to save the game and stop.”
Quake 3 Team Arena
Quake fans are likely to get bored with the usual sanguinary,
non strategy, fragging and gibbing commonly seen in the
series. We also saw mediocre results in previous Quake series
games where companies other than ID Software handled mission
packs. While Quake III Arena focuses mostly on the death match
concept, Team Arena focuses more on a team arena game as seen on
the Unreal Tournament Game of the Year.
Giants:
Citizen Kabuto
I first laid
eyes on this game at the 2000 Comdex show where the beta of this
game was on display. I had already heard how good it was going
be when it was released. As they say, seeing is believing. Now
that I've had a chance to load the game and play it for the
first time, I truly believe it has the makings of being one of
the elite games of 2000.
No One Lives Forever
How does Skin tight leather, high heeled boots, and a wide
assortment of high-powered weapons sound? If any of those things
sound good to you then I would recommend giving No One Lives
Forever a shot or maybe two for good measure...
SWAT 3 Elite Edition
When reading
reviews of Swat3 Elite Edition, nearly every reviewer mentions
that Swat3 was a great game but it was simply lacking its multi
player element. Now that the multiplayer option has arrived in
the form of either a free upgrade download, or at your local
game shop, then realistic-tactical sim players everywhere can
sit back and enjoy Swat3 for what it is now – Elite Edition...
Gunman Chronicles
When I first
heard about Gunman Chronicles I wasn’t jumping up and down to
play the game. The thought of another run around shooter just
didn’t catch my attention. Well, Luckee called me up and said
that I had to check out this new game that he just got. As I
walked into his computer dungeon, I saw on his screens a great
looking game, it was Gunman. He told me to take a seat and...
Rogue Spear: Covert
Ops
The graphics and the board were incredible. I was pleased to see
a good outdoors "jungle" style mission. As any of you Rouge
Spear fans know most of the boards are in army installations or
urban buildings. The jungle board was and nice change of pace..
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force
The game story starts as Voyager is lured into a trap. Damaged
and unable to leave under it’s own power Ensign Munro and
members of the newly formed "Hazard Force" commanded by Lt Tuvok
are sent to save the crew and ship from bands of alien marauders
and to gather information from enemy vessels to help the Voyager
escape and find it’s way home.
Rainbow
Six: Rogue Spear
As police officer
and a game nut I was impressed with the intensity and realism in
the Rouge Spear Series.....
Deus Ex
Deus Ex Machina.
Directly translated, "God from Machine." The phrase actually
refers to something that provides an unexpected and quite sudden
solution to a difficult problem, a miracle of sorts.
In this case, the
game is Deus Ex, and the problem is a web of government
conspiracies that could jeopardize the fate of the world. The
solution? Why, you, of course.....
Wheel of Time
...As a long
time
Wheel of Time fan I was even more excited to learn that
there was going to be a Wheel of Time first person
shooter game released. When I heard the news I rushed to my
local game store to see if I could find a release date...
