Rogue Spear:
Covert Ops is the latest expansion set to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow
Six Rogue Spear. As a big fan of Rogue Spear I had to play it, I
itched to play it. I ran down to my local software store and
grabbed the first copy I could get my sticky little fingers on. I
paid the clerk my $30.00 and I was out the door anxious to install
my copy of Covert Ops. I raced home as fast as I could get there
without getting pulled over (nearly impossible if driving a police
car) and tore open the box as gently as I could.
I
plopped the CD into the CD tray and began my installation of the
game. At this point I had several errors (These errors were
because of my machine and not in any way related to the game)
and had to soak my computer in water for three hours to get it to
work properly. After I got my computer dried off I finally was
able to get the game installed. (I’m kidding about the water
part don’t do that I know some of you may try but it really
isn’t a good idea lemonade works much, much better. For anyone
who may be concerned my machine is doing much better it just
doesn’t care much for Windows ME)
I began
playing the first new mission. I was tasked to lead my squad
through the jungle to rescue hostages from a downed airplane. The
graphics and the board were incredible. I was pleased to see a
good outdoors "jungle" style mission. As any of you
Rouge Spear fans know most of the boards are in army installations
or urban buildings. The jungle board was and nice change of pace.
The board was also difficult and intense. So far I was excited at
what the game was showing me.
I passed
this mission and moved on to the next, a crashed satellite in a
remote arctic base overrun by terrorists. This was a fun mission
on a new board but similar to the Rogue Spear in the previous
expansion set. I then moved on to the next mission UN inspectors
trying to look at a US missile base were shot at by soldiers
manning the base. Again this was a new board but similar to what I
was used to in the Rogue Spear series. I was having a good time
and getting ready for the next mission when I was shocked to see
credits!! Wait just a minute I was having fun! We can’t go to
credits yet! I want more!!! I felt cheated with tears streaming
down my face I wanted to sit in front of the open refrigerator and
eat until I felt better. I finally brushed the lasagna off the
front off my shirt and went back to see what else came with the
game
